Kathryn was the Executive Director at New Zealand Needle Exchange Programme and is on the Board of Directors of the International Drug Policy Consortium and member of the Mental Health and Addiction SLA for the South Island DHB Alliance. Kathryn is a member of the Society for the Study of Addiction; Institute of Directors and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts.
Kathryn has over 20 years’ experience working in drug and alcohol services at a national (UK and NZ) as well as at an international level including work with UNODC. She is a strong advocate of “nothing about us, for us, without us” and has led a number of peer initiatives. Kathryn was involved in some of the early UK harm reduction services in both the community and prison settings. Her work experience extends from front line service delivery through to the management of services, and she has held a number of executive leadership positions. She has contributed to the development of drug policy and drug strategy, developed programmes and best practice guides, taught on a number of courses, as well as provided a wide range of training services in the UK, New Zealand, Eastern Europe, Central Asia and Southern Africa.
