Daniel Walker is the founder and Executive Director of Nvader, a New Zealand initiative to combat human trafficking around the world.
When he was 17, Daniel participated in the World Vision 40 Hour Famine to raise money for impoverished children throughout the world who find themselves selling their bodies to survive. He realised his sister was roughly the same age as many of the children he was raising money for, and made a prayer then, willing God to use him to set these children free.
Daniel went on to become a Detective in the New Zealand police, and has over 20 years of experience as a criminal investigator. He received his Master’s Degree in Third World Development, eventually working exclusively for 4 years to investigate and infiltrate the sexual exploitation of women and children across the globe. His efforts resulted in the rescue of many hundreds of victims as well as the successful prosecution of many perpetrators.
His recently published book, God in a Brothel: An Undercover Journey into Sex Trafficking and Rescue, gives an eye opening look at the largest form of modern day slavery, while sharing his incredible experiences. Join us at TEDxChristchurch 2013: Curiouser and Curiouser for Daniel’s powerful story and explore how we can help make a difference.
